AMT6: End-to-End Active Measurement Tool for IPv6 Network
نویسندگان
چکیده
Since IPv6 has more benefits over IPv4, the development and deployment of the IPv6 protocol-based products are currently taking place and the migration of IPv4 to IPv6 has also been steadily happen. In these mixed network environment, Network management for both IPv4 and IPv6 is a serious issue. In this paper, we focus on the design and implementation of an active measurement system which can be used for evaluating end-to-end performance of the IPv6/IPv4 network such as end-to-end available bandwidth, one-way delay, and one-way loss. We also describe the procedure of measurement when using AMT6 and some of its features. The IPv6/IPv4 users as well as network operators will be greatly helped to analyze network characteristics using the proposed architectural framework.

Implementation of IPv6 ToS over ATM Network
The current Internet infrastructure uses Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) that only supports the “best-effort” Qualityof-Service (QoS). While this simplification of QoS requires small processing latency in routers, there is no distinction between packets with various delay requirements. The introduction of the Type of Service (ToS) field in Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), addresses this d...
متن کاملServer Siblings: Identifying Shared IPv4/IPv6 Infrastructure Via Active Fingerprinting
We present, validate, and apply an active measurement technique that ascertains whether candidate IPv4 and IPv6 server addresses are “siblings,” i.e., assigned to the same physical machine. In contrast to prior efforts limited to passive monitoring, opportunistic measurements, or end-client populations, we propose an active methodology that generalizes to all TCP-reachable devices, including se...
متن کاملUnderstanding Current IPv6 Performance: A Case Study from CERNET
Much work has been done on IPv6 standards and many IPv6 testbeds have been deployed. However, little is known about the performance of the real IPv6 Internet, especially from the perspective of end users. In this paper, we perform a case study of current IPv6 performance from CERNET1. We propose an active measurement methodology, which analyzes the traces of file transference from IPv4/IPv6 dua...
متن کاملIn-line Service Measurements: Exploiting IPv6 Extension Headers
The ability to measure, monitor and control the service quality experienced by network traffic is becoming increasingly important as multiple traffic types are aggregated onto IP networks. This paper introduces a novel measurement technique for assessing performance metrics (e.g. one-way packet loss, delay, delay variation, and ‘goodput’) of IPv6 network flows. By exploiting native IPv6 extensi...
متن کاملEnd-to-End QoS Provisioning by Flow Label in IPv6
IPv6 as IP next generation is the successor to IPv4. IPv6 not only solves the shortcomings problem of IPv4 address, but also benefits the QoS especially during network congestion. Flow label field in IPv6 packet header provides an efficient way for packet marking, flow identification, and flow state lookup. This paper proposes the end-to-end QoS provisioning mechanism by utilizing 3-tuple inste...
